Remembrance: Bob Barrett

Bob2It is with a heavy heart that we share the loss of our former Chairman, Robert “Bob” Barrett Sr. on September 22, 2015.

Bob passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 81. He worked for Champion Paper for over forty years as an exemplary employee in numerous managerial positions.

Bob had served on Chaco Credit Union’s Board of Directors for 50 years, and had led the Credit Union as Chairman for 35 years from 1979 - 2014. His dedication and commitment to improving the lives of members is seen through the growth of our credit union. Bob was instrumental in opening the Credit Union to all residents in Butler, Warren, Preble, and Hamilton Counties. During the course of his tenure, Chaco grew over 150 million dollars in assets, opened six branches, and extended member services to our current operations.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Mattie Lee (Smith) Barrett,  six children, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters. Bob was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Barrett.

Bob Barrett touched all of us in many positive ways and he will forever hold a spot in our hearts. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers for Bob and his family.  He will be missed!
